On Thursday 12th April 2001, estimated that morning to be the busiest in Ansett's history, all ten of the airline's 767s were grounded indefinitely. This caused major disruptions, although Ansett was able to wet lease aircraft at short notice.
Additional flights had already been scheduled for Thursday, and Qantas had other extra flights over the weekend, but Ansett managed to schedule many additional flights at very short notice. This list is not complete. In particular details of actual Ansett flights on the evening of 12th April and extra flights on 13th and 14th April are missing. Note that it does not cover regular services where 767s were replaced by 737s and A320. It does cover regular services operated by BAe146s, since the 146 is not normally a "front line" aircraft.
Flight West Airlines: Just when things started to improve, regional affiliate Flight West Airlines went into receivership on 19th June. Replacement flights in Queensland and the Northern Territory were added at short notice.
This list was originally plain text. It will be progressively made to look better, with links to pictures. Any further information, sightings, tail numbers, photos, etc would would be most welcome, email David Bromage.
