Easter 2001

On Thursday 12 April 2001, estimated that morning to be the busiest in Ansett Australia's history, all ten of the airline's Boeing 767s were grounded indefinitely by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. This caused major disruptions, although Ansett was able to wet lease aircraft at short notice.

Additional flights had already been scheduled for Thursday, and Qantas had other extra flights over the weekend, but Ansett managed to schedule many additional flights at very short notice. This list is not complete. In particular details of actual Ansett flights on the evening of 12 April and extra flights on 13-14 April are missing. Note that it does not cover regular services where 767s were replaced by 737s and A320. It does cover regular services operated by BAe 146s, since the 146 was not normally a "front line" aircraft.

Just when things started to improve, Ansett's regional affiliate Flight West Airlines went into receivership on 19 June 2001. Replacement flights in Queensland and the Northern Territory were added at short notice.
